Vote Description

“Stimulus” Spending Bill S. 3604 (Roll Call 206)

The Senate defeated an attempt to pass a bill expanding federal spending for unemployment, food assistance, roads and bridge projects, and state Medicaid spending. ACU opposes this kind of “emergency” spending, and although the effort did get a majority 52-42 vote on September 26, 2008, under Senate procedures 60 votes were needed to pass it, so it was defeated.
