HR 3003 Sanctuary Cities (Roll Call 342)
This bill prohibits state and local governments from interfering with federal and other state or local officials who are trying to carry out the nation’s immigration laws. Under the bill, authorities cannot be prevented from asking about a person’s immigration status and certain Justice Department grants can be withheld from those who do not comply with requests for cooperation. ACU supports the enforcement of federal immigration laws and supported this bill. The House passed the bill on June 29, 2017 by a vote of 228-195.
